There is nothing worse than sitting down in a sweltering hot car on a warm summer day. If you need to get going in the summer and don’t have time to run the air conditioning for a while before you head out, there are some ways you can make your car more comfortable. Here are some ways to cool your car quickly.

Move the Air

You can quickly cool down your car by removing the hot air from inside. First, roll down one of the front windows. Then go to the other side of the car and open and close the door up to five or ten times. This will circulate the air and help to move the hot air that gets trapped inside. Doing this can drop the temperature inside the car by up to ten degrees in under a minute.

Use the Air Conditioner and the Outside Air

When you get in your car, roll the windows down. Turn the air conditioning on and use the fresh air setting. Don’t put it on re-circulate. Turn the fan all the way up and put the temperature on cold. Drive for a few minutes with the windows down and the air on to help move the hot air outside. Once you feel the car start to cool down, roll the windows up so you keep the cool air inside.

Use a Sunshade

If you put a sunshade in the windshield of your vehicle when you park it out in the sun, it keeps the interior cooler. You can make it even cooler by putting some in the windows. This keeps the rays of the sun from heating up the inside as much.

Park in the Shade

You can keep your car cooler if you park in the shade. It also helps if you can crack the windows. If you park your car in an area where it is safe to leave the windows slightly cracked, that helps to keep the air circulating. This, combined with the shade, keeps the interior cooler so the temperature drops to a more comfortable place quickly when you get in the car.

Use the Air Conditioning

The best way to make your car comfortable after it sits in the hot sun is to use the air conditioning. Try to allow a short amount of time to turn it on before you need to leave so it cools the car before you get in. This is more effective than driving with the windows down and the air conditioning on since you keep the cool air inside the vehicle.

If you want to cool down your car quickly, one of the most important things is to keep it from getting too hot in the first place, and then you need to move the air. If you don’t have air conditioning, fan the door to get some of the hot air out, and then drive with the windows down to get the breeze.
